Early this year my husband, two kids and I went for a much desired vacation to Costa Rica. When planning the trip we got stuck first on where we wanted to go. We wanted to be in a tropical country but didn´t know which one to choose. As soon as we saw the Guanacaste Costa Rica Resorts we knew we had found the place.

I´m glad we choose that location because we have heard of many people going down to Central American countries and not being able to find what they were looking for in accommodations. The truth is, the picture you see in the Internet is not always like the live one, so you have to pick well. Guanacaste with it´s white sand beaches, safe for the kids, excellent restaurants and amazing Resorts was the perfect place.
Guanacaste is one of the bigger provinces in Costa Rica and though we visited several beaches and they were all amazing we decided to stay in Rincon de la Vieja because it was exciting the possibility to take the kids to see a volcano. Plus it was a nice town which represented Costa Rica´s culture in every corner.
Taking the kids to the volcano was a lot of fun. We hiked up the trails surrounded by big trees and wildlife like monkeys and exotic birds. The biodiversity is astounding. I have to say, we were lucky because we went on a nice clear sunny day and were able to see the volcano very well. After exploring the trails we went to a spa/thermal waters on the volcano and were able to relax
On our third day, after being woken up by the sound of parrots and macaws, we decided to go to the beach. It was great because my husband likes to surf so he rented a board and we rented a few boogie boards for the kids from a local tico who also offered us ¨agua de pipa¨ or pipa water, which is the water that comes from a green coconut. After spending the morning at the beach, we found a cute little restaurant where we had a typical costarican ¨casado¨with rice, ¨picadillo¨ which is a chopped up vegetable (sometimes they use potato other times a fruit like papaya) with ground beef, ¨platano maduro¨which is fried plantain, nicely fried fish and a salad…

After hours of adventures under the sun: hiking, canopying and fishing we could go back to a comfortable hotel room and rest. There was days that we didn´t even need to leave the resort. The kids could spend the day swimming at the pool while we relaxed in the hammocks. It was like the comfort of home but much better because I didn´t have to get up at make the meals.
With help of Guanacaste Costa Rica Resorts we got a tour set up and rented a boat for a day so that we could go fishing. In Costa Rica on the coast, fishing is a basic recreational and economical activity and when in Costa Rica do as the ticos do, right? It was a great day and we were able to see great big fish like the Blue Marlin and others very colorful like the ¨Pez Vela¨(sailfish). The best part was being together, making memories that my kids can store forever.
It was a great trip and I hope to go again this year. The vacation really opened my eyes to the importance of getting away and spending time with family. After months in such a monotonous routine from work to home and home to work, getting away and relaxing with the help of of Guanacaste Costa Rica Resorts is just what I need.
Though we always put but´s and explanations to why we can´t do things, it´s our mind trying to stop us.
